Praia do Cabedelo is an iconic windsurfing spot in Northern Portugal and one of the European meccas for wind sports.
Its perfect orientation facing the Atlantic and the strength of the famous “Nortada” wind guarantee ideal conditions for Slalom and Free Racing throughout the summer.
Surrounded by the green hills of Monte de Santa Luzia and with the Lima River flowing out right in front, Viana do Castelo offers a spectacular setting for both athletes and spectators.
During the stage, the wind ranged between 15 and 35 knots, resulting in two very different days of sailing:
Big gear day (7.8–8.6), with medium wind and relatively comfortable conditions.
Small gear day (5.0–6.2), with strong gusts, higher technical demands, and short chop that made gybing difficult.
The conditions forced riders to fine-tune their gear, and there was some equipment breakage and crashes, especially during the strongest gusts.
Additionally, one of the days brought fog and a total lack of wind, so no heats were held, and only the scheduled prize-giving ceremony took place.
